Teenage years are going to be rough

Trevis and I got our first foreshadowing of Easton as a teenager......

It was 7:30 pm and time for Easton's bath so I walk over to the swing and this is what I find.

We cracked up laughing at his choice of positioning and how he got his blanket around his head that way. Then I called his name and said "it's time to go take your bath baby". This is what I got in response....
[Side Note: Yes we own clothes for him but what's the fun in a non naked baby?!?!]

He completely turned his head INTO the seat and AWAY from me giving him instructions!!! REFUSING to wake up! At this point, I dug my heels in as Trevis was laughing incessantly in the background. "EASTON PETER! IT IS TIME TO TAKE A BATH SON! Now wake up so we can get that done."

"Really Mom? Do you have to ruin ALL my fun? Were you put here to make me miserable??? Geez! Can't a baby get some peace and quiet around here?!"

It's a family affair

We were able to have almost all of our family and significant others together for a wedding shower for my Uncle Eric recently. We don't get to see each other that often but when we do it's a hoot and we all have such a great time. Thank goodness we have gotten better about taking pictures when we are together! Here's all the cousins minus Sean and Jason.

Easton's favorite TV show

This kid generally doesn't enjoy TV. He'll pay attention for the first 5-10 minutes but after that he's "over it". But not with this one certain TV show....

He stares intently until commercials come on. "Baby Einsteins" you say??? Hardly....

It's AMERICAN IDOL!! Ugh! Just when Trevis and I had decided we weren't going to watch this season, our son decides it's his favorite show. He better not grow up with aspirations to be part of Randy's "Dawg Pound"!

Who needs a pacifier?

We had been on errands for about an hour, searching for the perfect fountain for our flowerbed. Easton was such a trooper and was enjoying the "whirly gigs" flying in the wind and all the fountains pouring water, but apparently that took him alot of energy to "take in". We got in the car to come home and this is what I had staring back at me!!! How cute :) And 2 seconds later this gave way to a sleeping baby...

Thumb Sucker

Easton has developed quite a habit for chewing on his pacifier. Not sucking it like a normal baby does but holding it and chewing on it upside down, on the side, etc. When he doesn't have his pacifier to chew on, he kicks back and chews on his fingers... his favorite "finger" being his thumb. There are many a night he will relax on the couch or in our arms and "suck his thumb". It's just precious to me.

Side Note: No his belly is not huge although it does remind me of a "puppy belly" after he's eaten and this picture certainly makes it seem that way. You can always tell when he's full because his "turkey timer" belly button pops out!

Bayou Baby

If there was any doubt he was a bayou baby let me remove it from your mind now....

Who needs clothes when it's Springtime in Louisiana?!?!?! Not this baby :)

Excuse Me? I don't think I HEARD you!

Easton's FAVORITE thing to do these days is yell. No. Not crying and yelling. Just yelling. Maybe he thinks we can't hear? Maybe he thinks the TV is too loud and he wants to make sure he's heard? I'm really not sure but EVERY night he can be found playing on his mat and yelling. It's actually quite entertaining actually...

The master yeller at his best....

Caught in a moment of normal decibel talking :)

4 Months Old

Easton had his 4 month check up at the end of February complete with 4 month shots :/ The doctor said what our little guy lacks in growth he's certainly made up for in development. He weighed in at 14 lbs 5 oz at 4 1/2 months and was 25 inches long. While he's still on the lower end of the growth curve, he's certainly following that curve since he's liked the "25th percentile" since 1 month of age. Trevis and I fully expected a baby with some ROLLS since we were both huge babies but so far that's not so. Developmental wise Easton rolled over both ways while at the doctor and was certainly quite "talkative" with her. Dr. Boudreaux laughed and laughed as Easton would talk "louder and louder" until she would walk over and talk TO him instead of to me. He also "sits up while maintaing excellent head control" (her words obviously), can reach, grab, and hold on to objects, and has begun eating baby food. While there, Dr. Boudreaux witnessed Easton getting up on his knees which she attributes to the beginning stages of pulling up on all fours for crawling. Crawling? How in the heck have we gone from birth to crawling this fast?????????

Shots finished out the appointment but Easton was such a trooper. He cried for literally 2 seconds and continued flirting with the nurses on the way out. I'm pretty sure shots are a much worse experience for parents than for the child.

I'm looking forward to the next appointment because we get to talk about no more Nexium and putting his crib flat instead of the current incline! But of course, more shots come with that talk..... ugh.
